Restore Line Messages on iPhone 2019
2 Restore iPhone from an iTunes Backup
If you had included the deleted Line messages in your latest iTunes backup, you have the option to restore the device from the backup to get them back. It may seem like the most logical solution but it does have a few pitfalls.
Restoring a device will often erase the contents and settings, making it a less than ideal solution when there is new data on your device. This restore process can also take a long time and result in some iTunes errors that you’ll need to take care of first. That said, here is a step by step guide to restoring an iPhone from an iTunes backup.
Step 1: Open iTunes on your computer and connect the iPhone using USB cables. Enter the passcode when prompted and follow the instructions when asked to “Trust This Computer.”
Step 2: When the iPhone appears in iTunes, click on it and select “Restore Backup.”
Step 3: Select the most relevant backup and then click “Restore.” Enter the password if it’s an encrypted backup and keep the device connected through the entire process. Keep the device connected even when it restarts to allow it to sync with the computer.
3 Restore iPhone from an iCloud Backup
If you instead have an iCloud backup, getting the Line messages back may be as easy as restoring the iPhone from the iCloud backup. But just as with an iTunes restore, you need to erase your device first which could lead to data loss. But if this is your only option, here’s a detailed guide on how to do it.
Step 1: First, make sure that you have a backup to begin with. Go to Settings > iCloud > Storage > Manage Storage and tap the device under Backups to see the backups. You can tell the latest by the date.
Step 2: If you do have a recent backup you can use, go ahead and erase the device. Go to Settings > General > Reset and then tap “Erase All Contents and Settings.”
Step 3: You should now be on the set-up screen. Follow the prompts until you get to the Apps & Data Screen and then choose “Restore from iCloud Backup.”
Step 4: Sign in to iCloud and then choose the most recent backup. Keep the device connected to a Wi-Fi network through the entire process.
